Who We Are

We’re bringing decades of conflict expertise to an ambitious vision: to build a cohesive, resilient society in the U.S.

THE PROBLEM

Polarization harms all of us

Our society is enduring a form of escalated and destructive conflict that—left unaddressed—is known to unravel communities, hamstring problem-solving, erode democracy, and foment hatred and violence.

Research shows we’re living with massive “perception gaps”—a distorted understanding of who our counterparts are, what they think and why, and how they relate to us. These perceptions breed distrust and cycles of conflict that make everything we care about harder to address.

TESTIMONIALs

This training has encouraged me to lean into difference as a gift that can reveal, rather than as a problem to be fixed or avoided... Entering into the differences and hearing the nuance of the other’s position gives a far deeper well of creativity and relationship out of which to seek a common way forward.”

Though many of us in this industry consider ourselves open and empathetic, RTT’s tangible strategies for having meaningful connection across divides makes that actionable.

RTT creates an environment in which vulnerability is welcome and growth is empowered. I want to emphasize the actionable part—it’s so helpful to have concrete tools that will allow us to dig deeper into the material that we’re working on and create more honest portraits of the people we don’t yet understand.”

Getting RTT technology out into the community is hugely beneficial and exactly what is needed at this divisive moment in our politics….

RTT has created an impressive, brilliant framework for facilitating difficult conversations—about anything. Their insights about what people need, and about what a conversation needs, in order to be resilient, interesting, and meaningful are revolutionary.... [RTT’s trainers] are spectacular at what they do. Anyone who has to facilitate discussions on contentious issues in a way that is both civil and increases understanding would benefit by using RTT’s approach.”

The Resetting the Table program was pivotal for me. I have been convening Muslims and Jews in difficult conversations for 15 years, and feel like the skills and support I received in this training will help me do my work better. I feel more confident diving into the differences.”

Our History

Our toolkit is grounded in decades of experience

In 2014, RTT’s founders saw that a proxy war around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the U.S. had many harmful ripples. Grounded in decades of experience as practitioners and scholars, they innovated a research-backed methodology that supports opposing parties to investigate charged political differences and come out the other side with stronger relationships, insight, and capacity to solve problems. In 2016, they saw that America was degenerating into its own intractable conflict and that RTT’s toolkit was needed much more broadly in the U.S.
